After being in a number of bands over the years, developing a repertoire of music and collaborating with many talented musicians, Diego decided he should create The Soulz of Rhythm and bring a healthy mix of Soul, R&B, Funk, Swing, and Rock ‘n Roll to Michigan’s music scene. There are many good bands and great songs out there, but Diego wanted to perform unique classics that strike an emotional chord with the audience.
The Soulz’ songs include many classic R&B/Soul hits, but also 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, Rock ‘n Roll, Funk, and Swing. They love the horn lines in many of these songs, but when the song is purely Rock & Roll, the horn players will sing background vocals and add a little Rhythm of their own.
Some of their musical choices border on what might seem obscure, songs that were not always the "A" side of the record but great songs nonetheless. And when The Soulz of Rhythm places its own twist on these songs, they come alive all over again! It’s what they like to call Funky, Swingin’ Soup for the Music Lovin’ Soul. The Soulz love it when people enjoy the performance, but even more when the audience, no matter the age, is out on the dance floor.
The Soulz are considered a seven-piece band, but occasionally have a few guests sit-in on horns, guitar, harmonica, or even vocals. The band can also shrink to just piano and vocals to fit smaller venues, or anything in-between. To enhance the performance, they have the best soundman in West Michigan, extracting the absolute maximum from each performance.
The Soulz of Rhythm are a perfect choice for corporate events, conferences, festivals, weddings, private parties, fundraisers as well as the club scene. They have played for the The American Cancer Society, The Park Theatre, The Holland Area Arts Council and many other events that call for a high-energy and entertaining party.
