On April 26th, for the first time our What Not Inn show included regular band mates Mark Hicks and Bobby Thompson. There was a special guest appearance by Mr. Fabulous Tim DenBesten as well as Dr. John Arendshorst. With Wally Michaels at the helm and Diego’s electrifying delivery the evening was another huge success. Try a Little Tenderness prompted a standing ovation, as well as energetic applause for several numbers; Hound Dog in particular. This marks the 4th time in 2008 that Diego and the Soulz of Rhythm packed the house.
The Soulz will be returning to the What Not Inn on June 14 with another special guest; Original Soulz of Rhythm drummer Tim DuMez- The Mad Hatter!!
The Soulz will be celebrating Diego’s Birthday on this night and hope that you all can make it…and join in the reunion fun. It has been more than a year since Tim DuMez and Diego have shared the stage, and any one who remember the live shows will remember the crazy antics and fun shared by these two.
Come on out and join the party!!

Fans and Friends,
This weekend The Soulz of Rhythm lost a good friend; Legendary Musician Mel Dalton.
Mel played with great entertainers such as: Bobby Darin, Sam Cooke and even the Chairman of the Board himself; Mr. Sinatra
Mel had great style and had tremendous talent on the Sax, always quick to tell it like it was, and gracious enough to share wonderful stories.
A supporter of local talent and a heavy cat on the music scene, he will be remembered fondly and greatly missed.

As a new years resolution, The Soulz of Rhythm has become a more flexible, diverse and accommodating band.
The band which once consisted of 9-10 members; now has the option of scaling to fit the needs of clients with smaller venues or those looking for a different party atmosphere. The Soulz of Rhythm is a band with the versatility to be as few as two performers (Piano/Vocal Duet) to a full fledged 10 piece band.
We changed after hearing so many clients say “we’d love to have you, but you’re too big” or “out of our budget” ... flexibility is the key.
We can do any party, any size. The band can accommodate a wide variety of music from Jazz Standards and Blues, to Soul and Funk and Rock & Roll; for dinner parties, corporate events, private parties, nightclubs and everything and anything in between. The larger the party and budget; the larger the band, for smaller events… we can do that too!
Now fans and followers can catch more of the band, around more local venues, and catch a different incarnation of The Soulz of Rhythm…as always, Funky, Swingin’ Soup, for the Music Lovin’ Soul-

We can can now flag entries meant only for band members as "Private". I hope the down time has not caused any inconvenience to you, our fans - thank you for your patience.

The Soulz of Rhythm regretfully say goodbye to an original member, excellent drummer and great friend, Tim Mad Hatter DuMez, has decided to move on and played his last official gig on March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day). Being a family man with many responsibilities, Tim decided that it would be best to step back at this time due to time constraints. Although he will be sorely missed we all understand and support his decision, he will be welcomed always and will forever be a Soul in all of our hearts. Keep an eye out for Tim as you may never know where he may pop up drumming, with talent like his we are all sure he will be able to find a better fit for his time, and we will continue to support him in all his future endeavors.
With that, the Soulz of Rhythm would like to introduce a new member to the family, Dan “Buddha” Anaya on drums/ percussion. Dan has been playing drums since childhood and is a former U.S. Marine that has served overseas up until last year. More on Buddha to come…

The second Soulz of Rhythm CD project is underway and as of January 30, is approximately half done. The expected release of the CD (not yet titled) will be in April.
After much success and a lot of fun, the Soulz is saying goodbye to Aaron Magic Slide Zimmer, who now joins the ranks of the other departed Soulz (figuratively speaking), but will always be a welcome guest at any of our upcoming appearances. He and his wife are expecting their first child (and one of only a handful of excuses we would accept, allowing him leave alive!) We are grateful he participated in our musical mayhem and wish Aaron and his wife the very best.
In related news we would like to welcome Dan Giacobassi, who is coming in as Aaron's replacement. Dan is very well known in West Michigan as an extraordinary saxophone player. Those of you who have been to the last couple of shows have had the pleasure of hearing his incredible talent.
